Spring 2025 marked the first semester of AERE and the beginning of its Husky Air team. During this initial semester, the team focused on developing the engineering knowledge and design capabilities needed to create an aircraft that could meet the requirements of its intended competition.
Students worked through the aircraft design process, gaining experience in engineering design, manufacturing considerations, and the technical challenges associated with building a competition aircraft.
Although the team initially planned to manufacture the complete aircraft during the semester, the available timeline made this impractical.
Instead, Husky Air shifted its focus toward testing manufacturing techniques on individual sections of the aircraft. This allowed members to gain practical fabrication experience while continuing to refine the team’s approach to aircraft development.
The spring 2025 project provided an important foundation for future Husky Air activities, helping students develop the skills and experience necessary to pursue more advanced aircraft projects.
