Project Theseus

History

Project Theseus was established within AERE to explore autonomous aerial systems capable of operating in environments where traditional GPS navigation is unavailable. The team began by developing a Phase 1 prototype and working with an industry partner to establish the foundation for continued research and development.
Since then, Project Theseus has focused on developing and testing technologies for autonomous navigation and data collection, with an emphasis on systems capable of operating in challenging subterranean environments.

Our Goal

The goal of Project Theseus is to develop autonomous aerial systems capable of navigation and data collection in GPS-denied environments. The team’s current focus is applying these technologies to subterranean search and rescue, where conventional navigation methods may be limited or unavailable.
Through the project, the team aims to advance its capabilities in autonomous navigation, sensing, system integration, and aerial platform development while exploring solutions for operating in complex and confined environments.
