AIM-JET

History

AIM-JET officially began in Fall 2026 as a dedicated research team within AERE focused on micro-jet propulsion and its emerging applications. The team was created to give students the opportunity to move beyond the theoretical study of jet engines and gain hands-on experience through engine testing, performance analysis, and system development.

Our Goal

AIM-JET’s short-term goal is to develop a physical proof of concept for an integrated micro-jet propulsion system. Current work focuses on synchronizing multiple engines, developing a wearable architecture that enables controlled thrust vectoring from an arm-mounted engine, and investigating methods to improve engine thrust and overall performance.
Long term, AIM-JET aims to scale these technologies into a coordinated multi-engine propulsion system integrated into a wearable platform. Through this work, the team will explore the engineering challenges involved in making controlled human flight using micro-jet propulsion possible.
